The Latest iPhones Are In Town: Meet The iPhone XS & XS Max

By | October 22, 2018

Want to know more about the latest additions to Apple’s smartphone list – the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max? Read on.

The iPhone XS and XS Max was launched in the Indian market on the 28th of September.

While the two new iPhones are indeed a delight for Apple fanboys and not-so-price-conscious consumers, they have failed to attract the rest. Apple’s failure can be attributed to its exorbitant pricing. Android flagship devices have a great deal more to offer and you wouldn’t have to pay an arm or a leg for them.

The Good Stuff

Here’s everything we loved about the new iPhones:

  • The Design

Although the phones still look pretty much like their discontinued older sibling, the iPhone X, the design is still eye-catching and worth a mention. The iPhone XS and XS Max boast of an extremely durable glass back, surgical-grade stainless steel bands, and IP68 water and dust resistance. Plus, both the models come in a new colour – gold. And we must say, it’s certainly going to turn a few heads. After all, all that glitters is surely GOLD!

  • Powerful Performance

From a performance perspective, both models are top-notch, as usual. With the new A12 bionic chip and Apple’s very own next-generation Neural Engine under the hood, the iPhone XS and XS Max provide tough competition to top Android flagships when it comes to performance. You will be hard-pressed to find any glitches regardless of whether you’re playing graphics-rich games or editing videos (or whatever it is you want to do on these phones).

  • Impressive Cameras

iPhone cameras have always been great. No two ways about it. And the iPhone XS and XS Max pack an amazing 12 MP dual-camera setup in the rear and an equally good 7 MP selfie shooter in the front. Despite the subtle changes in the camera setup, like the addition of a Smart HDR mode, improved Portrait mode and bigger pixels for better low-light photography, when compared to the older iPhone X the cameras on the XS and XS Max are a compelling upgrade.

  • The Display

Gorgeous and enormous. Especially the iPhone XS Max’s OLED display. Both the phones have a Super Retina display which is bright even in the harshest lighting conditions. You’re going to totally love gaming and reading on these phones, especially with the bigger 6.5-inch screen of the iPhone XS Max.

The Bad Stuff

What did we dislike about the iPhone siblings? Here you go:

  • No Fast Charging

The battery life is great on both phones. However, unlike most of its Android competitors, Apple doesn’t provide a fast charger. So, don’t expect these phones to achieve a 50% charge in, like, 30 minutes or so. Bummer!

  • The Price

One thing which Apple never gets right is its pricing. The iPhone XS starts at Rs. 99,900* (for the lowest variant) and the iPhone XS Max starts at Rs. 1,09,000* (for the lowest variant). It’s almost like asking Indian consumers to part with their life’s savings just to own a smartphone.

*Price as mentioned on Imagine India website.

Final Verdict: Both phones have a great deal to offer. However, sadly, the pricing is a real turn off.

No-cost EMI schemes are applicable for 6-month EMI periods only. You can also opt for interest-based EMIs if you want a higher repayment period (24 months max.).
