According to a recent press report, the account holders of Union Bank of India can pay their income tax through the bank’s ATM. The Bank has a net work of 2, 600 ATM’s.
The customers of Union Bank of India who are willing to pay their taxes through the bank’s ATM have to register their details once on the bank’s web portal. Then the customer’s PAN/TAN will be authorized by the website with the help of NSDL site.
The customers will have to log on to their ATM and select income tax where their PAN will be displayed. The customer will be asked to enter his income tax amount with the Education Cess and item wise details of any other inclusions in the income tax payment. The tax amount will then be debited customers account and a receipt containing CIN number will be issued to the customer. The customer can then log in to the web portal of the bank and print a challan for their records by using the CIN number.
The bank also offers a special feature where eight members of the account holder’s family are allowed to pay the income tax through one debit card even if they do not hold accounts with the bank. The bank has one focal point branch for all its electronic direct tax payment which is pooled and remitted to Nodal Government treasury branch on T+1 basis.
