Honda is intending to introduce a cheapest small car in India by 2011.The Japanese car manufacturer is concentrating a lot on detail when designing this car, which has not been named till date.
Lately, Honda sent saris to its factory in Japan and the designers and engineers at the factory saw first hand how sari clad women entered and exited from a hatchback numerous times. The aim was to find out how snug the car is for Indian women.
Moreover, Honda is also observing the climate of the country prior to inventing the new small car. This small car is likely to be fitted with a 1200 cc engine.
Honda had conducted a survey in 2007 to find out about the consumer behavior in the country and the company has used the summaries of the survey to invent the new small car.
The new small car is expected to be fitted with all the required characteristics anticipated from a Honda including airbags, ABS and G-CON body norms, which retain the reliability of the passenger cabin untouched in case of an accident.
Honda’s vice-president (marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said, the company had surveyed 1,600 people at the Auto Expo about their expectations from the new car. Safety was highly rated.
Honda has chosen to keep the price of the small car lesser than Rs. 500,000 in order to rival Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20.
Honda director (marketing) Tatsuya Natsume said that it would be the cheapest Honda available in the world.
About 80% of the components used in this car would be sourced locally in order to save on the cost of spares.
