According to a recent press report Dr K. Ramakrishnan, Chief Executive Officer of Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) said that bankers should be customer-oriented and sensitized.
Addressing the members of the Bankers’ Club of Mangalore, he said the relationship between a banker and customer should be like that of the host and the guest. He also said that innovation, passion and conviction towards the customers are necessary at present and that bankers have to be proactive towards the customers in giving them better services.
He also said that the biggest challenge for bankers are the delay in decision making and that customers often complain on timelines which are not followed.
Mr. Ramnath Pradeep, Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank and Honorary Chairman of Bankers’ Club of Mangalore, said financial inclusion is a huge opportunity for the banking industry.
He also said that the future of banking lies in rural areas. The RBI has planned to increase the number of banks in the rural areas by the end of this financial year. The RBI wants to offer services such as Savings accounts, Current accounts, fixed deposits Recurring deposits, Home Loans, Automobile loans, Mortgage loans, Personal loans, Share trading accounts etc to the people of the rural areas.
