The iPhone XR: Just A Cheap Affair Or Something More?

The iPhone XR: Just A Cheap Affair Or Something More?

Apple claims that the iPhone XR is its top-selling iPhone this year. Is it because of the XR’s pricing or does the phone really offer something worthy? Let’s find out.

Although, the cheapest of the lot, the iPhone XR offers pretty much everything its older siblings, the iPhone XS and XS Max, offer. You get the same A12 bionic chip, iOS 12, good looks, long-lasting battery, the super-fast face unlock and more. However, it does fall a little short in a few areas though. Like the camera, for instance. Sorry, folks, no dual camera setup on the XR. But it doesn’t mean that the camera isn’t good.

The Good Stuff

Let’s start with the design, shall we? It’s simplistic. It’s comfortable. And it’s durable. But what we liked the most was the choice of colours. Moving ahead from the usual white, black and gold, the XR comes in four new colours – Blue, Coral, Yellow and Red. Of course, black and white variants are available too. Also, despite packing a 6.1-inch screen, the XR fits easily in your pocket.

Coming to battery life, well, what can we say, it is just so amazing! The 2,942 mAh battery is larger than the one in the XS and easily makes it through the day on general usage. So, you can be rest assured that your iPhone wouldn’t die on you even if you’re having a long day at work.

Now, let’s talk about performance. Powered by the same A12 bionic chip that runs the iPhone XS and XS Max, the XR will surely charm you. The phone performs flawlessly, no matter what you put forth.

And last but not the least, it is the pricing that really makes the cut. The 64 GB variant currently sells at Rs. 76,900. Of course, there are discounts offered across retailers and e-tailers. Also, you can save more on making the purchase using your Credit Card. Don’t have a card? No worries, explore these awesome Credit Cards and pick one that’s right for you.

The Meh Stuff

Well, the display didn’t quite make the cut for us. Of course, it is bright, vivid and the legibility is good. But for a phone that costs almost 80k, Apple could have done a great deal better here.

Another big let-down was the iPhone XR’s portrait mode. Honestly, the camera does a good job when it comes to clicking share-worthy photos, but the portrait mode just doesn’t get something right. It works pretty well when you’re clicking people, however, not otherwise.

Final Words – Gorgeous looks, impressive performance and kinda pocket-friendly. It isn’t just a cheap affair. Rather, it is the best iPhone to hit the market this year.
