Bank websites are attracting higher traffic

Recent reports said that 26.4 per cent of the country’s internet users have visited an online property of a bank in March. According to audience measurement platform ViziSense, out of the seven crore internet users in the country, 1.85 crore have visited an online property of a bank in March.

Reports said that the growth of the users who visit the bank sites have been consistent. The visitors to the bank sites in March 2010 were 1.3 crore which increased to 1.5 crore in October 2010 among the six crore active users. It must also be noted that quite a few online Loan comparison websites which help you get bargains on Car loan, Personal loan etc.

The top three banks on the web by unique visitors to their online properties were ICICI Bank which recorded 59.5 lakh unique visitors; HDFC bank recorded 57.1 lakh and state Bank of India recorded 46.5 lakh. In addition the reports also said that forty-four per cent of visitors to ICICI Bank’s Web sites in March 2011 had an income of over Rs 5 lakh per annum, and the figure for HDFC Bank is similar, at 42 per cent, 24 per cent of visitors to SBI’s properties earned over Rs 5 lakh per annum,

According to Mr. Amit Bhartiya, Business Head, ViziSense, India, the trend in growth of internet users shows the efforts of banks to get customers online and reduce the transaction cost and increase coverage.
