Car loan lender Punjab & Sind Bank selected as registrar in UID project

Car loan lender, Punjab & Sind Bank has accepted to work as registrar for the Unique Identification project known as “Aadhar”. The bank has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in this respect.

According to the agreement, the bank would be gathering demographic as well as biometric details of its 65 lakh client base for its present as well as prospective customers.

Punjab & Sind Bank’s Executive Director P K Anand said that its tie-up  with UIDAI is an excellent prospect for the bank.

He said, “We can leverage on the fact that there is a large number of migrant labour from Bihar, Eastern UP and Jharkhand, who can be enrolled under UIDAI project so that they can remit there funds to their native place through there Smart Card Technology,”.

The bank’s branch network is 924 branches from which 325 are in the rural areas.
