A recent press report said that Mr. R. Chandrasekharan has assumed charge as Executive Director of UCO Bank.
Reports said that Mr. Chandrasekharan has about 35 years of experience in the banking industry. He joined IOB as a probationary officer on October 11, 1976, and worked as manager in rural and semi-urban branches besides large corporate branches in Delhi.
He was General Manager at IOB for the Delhi region before joining the UCO Bank. He had also worked at IOB’s main branch in Hong Kong where he was actively involved in international business and foreign trade. Thereafter, he had moved to Singapore branch of IOB as head of credit and international banking.
UCO Bank, formerly United Commercial Bank, established in 1943 in Kolkata, is one of the oldest and major commercial bank of India. Ghanshyam Das Birla, an eminent Indian industrialist, during the Quit India movement of 1942, had conceived the idea of organizing a commercial bank with Indian capital and management, and the United Commercial Bank Limited was incorporated to give shape to that idea. The bank’s loan portfolio includes home loans, car loan, personal loans, mortgage loan, educational loans etc.
