The car market is abuzz with news that Ford is ultimately available in the showrooms.The price of the petrol model of Ford’s new compact car Figo lies between Rs 3,60,000-4,50,000 and the diesel model costs from Rs 4,50,000 to5,45,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Ford Figo uses Ford’s global B platform and is smaller than other compact cars. Its fuel tank can store 45 litres of fuel and the car has a mileage of 12 km per liter in cities and 15 km per litre on highways.
Ford Figohas been developed, particularly for Indian clients and Indian roads. It would be sold in the 1196cc petrol and 1399cc diesel engine models.
The petrol engine generates a maximum power of 71PS at 6,250 rpm with a highest torque of 102Nm at 4,00rpm.
The diesel engine generates a maximum power of 69PS at 4,000rpm with a highest torque of 160Nm at 2,000rpm.
Both models have a 5-speed manual transmission system and offer a highest speed of 160kmph.
The car has a self-regulating Mc Pherson strut with dual path mounts front suspension and semi-independent twist beam and coil spring rear suspension.
It has aerated disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the hind. Both the petrol and diesel models will be available in 4 variants: LXI, EXI, ZXI and Titanium.
Body coloured front and rear bumpers, air-conditioning with heater, power steering, remote fuel tank open, front power point, cup holders in front centre console, three point seatbelts for front and rear seats etc are few standard characteristics available in all the models.
But characteristics like dual front airbags and antilock breaking system (ABS and EBD) are provided only in the hi-end models.
