The Indian division of high-end bike maker, Harley-Davidson, intends to start a Harley Owners Group, popularly called as HOG, in India soon.

The HOG is a supported community marketing club, run by Harley-Davidson for its fan.

Sanjay Tripathi, Harley-Davidson’s Director (Marketing),  said “We are planning to start the Harley Owners Group sometime in October. Any person who buys a Harley bike automatically becomes the member of HOG”.

But he, did not tell the figure of bikes the company has sold over the past one year via its 4 dealerships throughout India.

He said, “We will soon be releasing the numbers”. Before officially entering the Indian market last year via a dealership in Hyderabad, there were 200 Harley bikes in India,  Tripathi stated.

The bikes cost between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 35 lakh. Harley ventured in India after the Government permitted the import of high-ability powered two-wheelers from US in 2007.

Currently, Harley pays a 110% duty while importing every bike.

Harley presently has 4 dealerships across Delhi, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Mumbai. It intends to start one more in Bangalore this month.
