Honda withdraws a 3rd of all Citys produced in 2007

Honda Siel Cars India, the Indian subsidiary of Honda Motors of Japan today announced that it plans to recall over 8,500 City sedans produced in India in 2007 in order to alter a faulty switch. Since the company sold 26,800 cars in that year, nearly every 3rd of these cars need to have their faulty switch replace.

This announcement has come 2 days after Toyota Motor Corporation, announced that it plans to recall 2.5 million cars of A models like Camry throughout the world.

Honda said that the essential part used for running the power windows might start burning if it is exposed to water or any other fluid. But till date, no such unfortunate event has occurred in India as per the company’s statement. Honda has released the entire list of buyers who own the faulty cars.

The press release of the company says that the company will replace the faulty part without any cost and the company will interact directly with the buyers of the cars who are protected under this part replacement program.

On the global scale, Honda has recalled around 650,000 Fits (or Jazz) and Citys. But it does not apply to the Jazz cars sold in India, as they belong to the 2nd generation of the cars. This recall is applicable only to the first batch of Jazz.
