Punjab National Bank has planned to recruit 9,000 people

A recent press report said that Punjab National Bank is in the process of hiring 3,000 officers and 6,000 clerks.

Mr.KR Kamath, chairman and managing director, of the Punjab National Bank said that the bank has started the hiring procedure but the process has chances of spilling over to next year

He said that the bank had already conducted written exams for both the categories and interview for clerks is likely to begin.

The bank has also planned to grow its business by 20-22% this fiscal which is comparatively lower than last year’s 30% growth rate as the economy is expected to grow at a sub-8% level.

PNB is the second largest state-owned commercial bank in India with about 5000 branches across 764 cities. It serves over 37 million customers. The bank has been ranked 248th biggest bank in the world by the Bankers Almanac, London.

The bank has recently hiked its lending rates. Its loan portfolio includes home loan, personal loan, car loan, mortgage loan, educational loan etc. The banks BPLR stands at 14.25% and the current base rate is 10.75%.
