Standard Chartered Bank looking to hire smaller IT companies

Standard Chartered Bank, a leading Singapore-based bank predicts India will play a leading role in the technological aspect and introducing new products. It is also ready to work with smaller IT companies in order to offer economical services to its customers.

This was stated by David Awcock, the Group technology head of the bank. He said though the bank is using big IT companies it is looking to give a chance to smaller IT firms as it thinks they can play a pivotal role in product development. By joining hands with Nasscom and CIO Association of India, it has selected 12 from 60 smaller IT companies.

The 12 companies are: Extensio software, Ipath technologies, Impetus Infotech, Kallos Solutions, Solix Technologies, Estel Technologies, Mobile Nirvana Technologies, Chella Software, Posidex Technologies, Nextbit Computing, Aviram Networks and Precision group.

The bank is hosting Techexpo 2010, a dais for these companies to highlight and display their inventive technology products to the bank’s technical team. These products would be relevant to bank’s plans. The bank is in expansion phase in India and plans to open new branches, introduce more ATMs as well as mobile banking. David thinks technology would form the backbone of the expansion phase.
