A recent press report said that Syndicate Bank, a public sector bank, and Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank, a Adhara-based regional rural bank, have planned to jointly instituting ‘professor chair on agricultural finance’ at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad.
Reports said that Mr. Basant Seth, the Chairman and Managing Director of Syndicate Bank, has planned to visit the twin cities of Hubble-Dharwad to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Agricultural Sciences.
Reports also said that the permanent chair on agricultural finance is to help research with the aim of improving the income of farmers in rural areas through a mutual understanding.
As per reports from Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank, Mr. Seth will visit Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank head office to inaugurate 10 branches of the bank and to link 1,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and 1,500 Joint Liability Groups in a single day.
The reports said that he will also inaugurate the exhibition of Self-Help Group (SHG) members at the premises of Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank in Dharwad. He has also planned to address the senior branch managers of Hubli region at the regional office.
Syndicate Bank was established in 1925 in Udupi. Bank offers products and services like deposit schemes, loans – personal loan, agricultural loan and other priority sector loans, banking facility for NRIs, e-banking facility with Centralized Banking Solution (CBS).
