The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently launched an offline ‘Aadhaar Paperless e-KYC’ method for identity verification. This offline method is specially designed for those who have concerns related to privacy and data sharing.
So, there are two ways of doing offline Aadhaar verification – by using the QR code on your Aadhaar card and via paperless local e-KYC. The paperless method requires you to generate a digitally signed XML document from the UIDAI website.

How to generate XML document for offline verification:
Here’s your step-by-step guide to download your Aadhaar offline XML document:
Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website – www.uidai.gov.in.
Step 2: Now, under the ‘Aadhaar Services’ section, click ‘Aadhaar Paperless Local e-KYC’. You will now be redirected to a new screen.
Step 3: Login using your 12-digit Aadhaar number or 16-digit Virtual ID (VID) number. Enter the security code displayed on the screen.
Step 4: Click ‘Send OTP’ to receive a One Time Password on your registered mobile number.
Step 5: On the right-hand side, enter the OTP you received on your mobile & submit.
Step 6: Next, enter your name as mentioned on your Aadhaar card, pin code of your address and the captcha code displayed on the screen and click ‘Verify’.
Step 7: Once the validation is successful, select the additional details that you wish to download for offline verification purpose along with your name and address.
Step 8: Now, generate a ‘Share Code’ as per instructions mentioned on the website; enter the security code and click ‘Submit’.
Step 9: The ZIP file containing the XML file will be downloaded on your device. You can extract the XML file from the ZIP file by simply entering the share code that you generated in Step 8 above.
