At the launch of the new BMW X5 on Tuesday Dr.Andreas Schaff, President, BMW India outlined the growth strategy for the company over the next year. An initial overview of the strategy clearly shows BMW’s aggressive approach towards the Indian market.

The plans currently take into account the robust demand for the company’s products and the steadily increasing volumes. BMW India sold 3301 cars up to August 2010, leading into an increase of over 40% over the earlier year.

The BMW’s plan for 2010-11 concentrates on the new models it has launched and the ones it intends to. The models already introduced in this strategy comprise the earlier introduced 5 Series and the X5. Still more essential is the launch will be the BMW X1 which would take into a totally new division for the company. The X1 will not only be a volume driver but also become the entry model for the company. Manufacture of the X1 is anticipated to start by the end of 2010 and deliveries would start in early 2011.
