E-Nivaran: India's Paperless Solution For Income Tax Grievances

If you have ever faced a tax-related problem, you would have had to go through the cumbersome grievance redressal mechanism of the Income Tax Department. Thankfully, there is good news for tax payers. All the shuffling between various websites, helpline centers, and offline and online complaints will come to an end with the introduction of a Central Paperless Solution for all your Income Tax grievances.

With the Unified Grievance Management System or E-Nivaran System, all your Income Tax grievances will now be processed in a paperless environment under the eyes of an assessment officer.

Here is everything you need to know about the E-Nivaran system and how it is going to change grievance redressal at the IT Department.

An Overview E-Nivaran

E-Nivaran uses technology in an aim to ensure easier and faster resolution of complaints. It will be done by integrating all offline and online complaints into one central complaint resolution system. The system will ensure that any complaint received is transferred to the designated department while offering a tracking mechanism for the complainant.

The Need For E-Nivaran

Currently, an Income Tax grievance can be registered in multiple ways. The type of complaint will decide which designated department you need to approach.

For example, a grievance regarding your PAN card may be registered with the two dedicated helplines of NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd. and UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Ltd (UTIISL). Likewise, a grievance with your tax return or tax refund will have to be registered with the grievance center or the centralized processing centre of the IT Department.

Resolving multiple grievances means running from one helpline to another. And the fact that online complaints are tracked by a different system compared to offline ones, makes the grievance resolution process lengthy and difficult.

How E-Nivaran  Will Be A Game Changer

As a new, smart, electronic platform for faster resolution, E-Nivaran will be your one-stop-shop for all grievances. The system will integrate online and offline complaints and also have an in-house mechanism to transfer grievances to the right departments. With E-Nivaran, you will be able to track your complaint and get real-time updates on them. All complaints will be monitored by an assessment officer for time-bound resolution.

Which Grievances Can You Resolve With E-Nivaran ?

E-Nivaran will let you file complaints on all matters that come under the jurisdiction of the Finance Ministry and the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). So, everything from PAN card problems to IT returns, tax refunds, TDS woes, delay in refunds, tax return scrutiny issues, etc. can all be resolved with E-Nivaran.

E-Nivaran has been launched on the Income Tax Business Application (ITBA) platform. The service will soon be available on the IT Department’s website at www.incometaxindia.gov.in.

The CBDT is targetting resolutions of all complaints in a maximum period of one month which may be further reduced with time.

Getting resolutions for Income Tax related issues could be stressful. However, with the introduction of E-Nivaran, all this could go away as it promises faster and streamlined complaint resolution.

      Hi santoshkumar,

No two people can have the same PAN number. In your case, it might be a case of fraud. We suggest getting legal help to sort out this issue.

      All the best.

      Cheers,
      Team BankBazaar
