Where do I even begin? The satisfaction I feel as I cycle to work every morning is oddly unsettling. 11 years of ‘professional soul-searching’ and I finally seem to have landed in the right place. It’s like the mothership was calling me all along – just took me a little while to find my way!
Life has definitely taken a turn for the better since I joined BankBazaar – easily my best place to work so far. I came in with my own set of expectations as we all do when we venture into something new. I was in for a pleasant surprise to say the least. It’s just been smooth sailing since. My resolve to push the company to greater heights stems from the goodness of the people I work with. I think I can safely say that I intend to retire from here. That says quite a bit, doesn’t it?
I must start with the work culture here. It’s definitely employee friendly and keeps one in a good mood while working. The energy is infectious, really, and is evident from the good vibes all around. Working from home, a fairly long leave from work to spend some time with my family – not a problem. Never have I been denied permission for such requests. In all fairness, I always ensure that everything is smooth on the work front. Everything else is taken care of, almost magically.
Sometimes, a light bulb goes off and ideas come from almost every direction. What do I do? I share them with the top management. What next? These ideas start taking shape. No kidding! I suppose that’s one of the advantages of working in a company venturing into unchartered territory – one good idea might just affect the next quarter dramatically! In essence, I feel important here and I know I can steer this giant ship to greatness if my ideas are sound. The work timings are flexible too which means I have no qualms about burning the midnight oil – I can just make up for it the next day.
Also, we dress for comfort! I love my tees and shorts – the air flows in freely which translates to fresh ideas. Makes sense? Sure it does! Recreation’s been taken care of too. Productivity isn’t all about staring at your computer for hours, right? Foosball, Table Tennis or Carrom – go nuts!
Colleagues are perhaps the most important part of a balanced work life. That way, I feel like I’ve struck pure gold. Good old humour is an integral part of daily life here. Not a day goes by when a fast one isn’t pulled on an innocent victim – it’s pranks galore at BankBazaar. Hiding belongings, posting ridiculous stuff from unlocked computers or just throwing stuff at each other – we do it all. Laughter certainly is the best medicine and we’re firm believers. It’s amazing what happy minds can achieve!
The cafeteria is always well stocked for the dehydrated soul. I find liquid solace among the red tables and chairs. Also, snacks that arrive when one starts feeling a little peckish towards the end of the day – just one of the few things to look forward to everyday (food is important, no?)!
These are just a few things that keep me and my team motivated to strive for more. Practical goals are set but it’s pretty awesome when we do things out of the ordinary. I’ve inadvertently spilt all our secrets and hope I’ve been able to do justice to the awesome place that is BankBazaar. Onwards we go!
