Maruti sales exceed 100,000 per month due to cheap car loans

Leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has posted a 27.9% increase in sales for May at 102,175 units as against 79,872 vehicles. This was made possible by cheap car loans

This is for the first time the car manufacturer has ever sold more than 100,000 units in a month, its earlier highest monthly sale number was 96,650 units in February.

A statement released by the company said, “During May, domestic sales stood at 90,041 units in the domestic market, up 27.2 percent over the corresponding month last year. This is the highest ever domestic sales in a month”.

Exports for the month went up by 33.5% at 12,134 units.

Sales of the compact car (A2) segment including Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star increased 16.6% at 62,679 units for May 2009.

Sales of cars in its mid-sized (A3) segment involving SX4 and D’Zire went up to 60.5% to 10,883 while for its C segment that includes Omni, Versa, and the Eeco, the sales were 12,953 vehicles.
