Sales of Bajaj motorcycles zoom to 78% in February

India’s second biggest two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto posted 78.03% increase in motorcycle sales at 2,34,623 units in February.

Last year, the company had sold 1,31,785 units in the same month, a statement by Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said.

BAL credited hike to strong sales of its Pulsar and Discover series of bikes, it said further.

Entire two-wheeler sales over the month also went up by 77.28% to 2,34,710 units as against 1,32,393 units in the same month a year back, it said.

BAL’s exports increased by 53.03% to 77,642 units in February 2010 from 50,738 units in February, 2009.

The company posted an increase of 58.81% in three-wheeler sales in February at 33,968 units as compared to 21,389 units in the same month in the previous year.

Entire vehicle sales of the company last month was reported to be 2,68,678 units as against 1,53,782 units in the same period a year back, recording an increase of 74.71 %, as per the statement.
