Why Has the Swachh Bharat Cess Been Imposed?

The Swachh Bharat Cess has been imposed to finance and promote Swachh Bharat initiatives.

Is the Swachh Bharat Cess Yet Another Tax?

The Swachh Bharat Cess is an addition of 0.50% to the service tax. With effect from 15 November 2015, the revised service tax rate will be 14.50%

So the next time you eat out at a restaurant, look closely at your bill. The Swachh Bharat Cess will not be added to the service tax, but added separately.
