Unlikely to introduce brand Splash in India says Ford

By | August 22, 2010

Car major Ford said it is unlikely to launch a car as ‘Splash’, despite getting the brand registered in India. It had pressurized Suzuki to alter its worldwide hatchback with the same name to ‘Ritz’ for selling in India.

Michael Boneham, Ford India president and MD said, “We are not expected to use that name (Splash) because we are going to use global names as we move forward (in India)”.

When asked the reason for the company not using the name ‘Splash’ in India, Boneham said: “What we intend to do is to use global names here, rather than specific names for one country.”

But he refused to comment if Ford India would take away the name from the authorities.
