Ashok Leyland has reported 97.43% increase in its commercial vehicle sales at 10,067 units in March.
The company had sold 5,099 units in March last year, according to a statement released by Ashok Leyland. In FY’10, Ashok Leyland sold 63,926 units as compared to 54,431 units in the earlier fiscal, a hike of 17.44%.
In March, domestic sales were 9,299 units as compared to 4,428 units in the same month previous year, more than twice the increase, it said further.
Exports went up by 14.46% to 768 units in the month as against 671 units last year.
The company also posted more than twice the hike in its overall domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles at 9,222 units from 4,353 units in the same month previous year.
For 2009-10 fiscal, the company registered an increase of 21.69% in its overall domestic sales at 57,947 units as compared to 47,619 units. Domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles were placed at 57,111 units as against 47,105 units, an increase of 21.24%.
But the exports in previous fiscal, fell by 12.23% to 5,979 units from 6,812 units in 2008-09.
