Audi to introduce A-8 by around Dec

Luxury carmaker Audi will introduce its premium A 8 model by the end of this year, a senior company official said. The company is aiming for a 30% market share in India market by next year while it plans to increase its dealership network to 18.

Presently Audi holds around 24% of the luxury car market in India, is marked at about 15,000-20,000 units.

Micheal Perschke, Audi India head said, “We are looking at increasing our marketshare as well as focusing on profitabilty. By next year we target around 30 per cent share in the Indian market. We expect a huge growth coming from the metros as well as Tier II cities”.

The company is planning to sell around 1,000 units in the September-December time in this year.

In this year, the company has managed to sell about 1,876 cars (January-August), as compared to 1,128 units in the equivalent period a year back.

During August, it sold 250 cars, a rise of 46% from 171 units for the same period previous year.
