A recent press report said that HDFC Bank has launched three premium credit-cards – Regalia, Superia and Platinum Edge in Bangalore. The cards have been launched to facilitate frequent travelers.
Mr. Pralay Mondal, Country Head – Retail Assets and Credit Cards, HDFC Bank, said that about 80 percent of the bank’s credit-cards are sold to internal customers. He added saying that the travel credit cards, were part of the bank’s strategy to innovate and segment.
The credit-cards will be available on both VISA and MasterCard platforms, and comes with a host of benefits for the user.
Reports said that the HDFC credit-card base stood at 50.5 lakh as of March 2011. It added saying that the travel Regalia targets the ultra-rich global Indian; it offers a unique travel and lifestyle portal, where the user can book air tickets online (both domestic and international) book hotels across the globe, and also movie and show tickets.
The Superia cards are targeted at the affluent Indian traveler and the Platinum Edge cards are targeted on value-conscious Indian travelers.
HDFC Ltd has recently hiked its retail prime lending rate by 50 basis points to 16.5 per cent making its home loan and other loan costlier to its borrowers.
