Auto giant TVS has posted a 35% rise in two-wheeler sales to 1,63,106 units in July, 2010, caused by a 54% rise in exports.
A company statement said it sold 1,20,944 two-wheeler units in July, 2009.
It added, “Cumulative two-wheeler sales for the period April to July, 2010, increased 32 per cent from 4,68,085 units in the same period of the previous year to 6,19,147 units in the current period”.
While local sales saw a rise of 33%, the export of more than 20,000 units in July, 2010, as compared to 13,000-odd units previous year meant a rise of 54%, thus raising the total sales growth for the month.
The company sold 61,051 motorcycles in July, 2010, as compared to 42,998 in the equivalent period for the earlier year; a rise of around 42%; while the sale of 40,357 scooters led to a 46% increase.
The statement also said, “Three-wheeler sales of the company crossed the three thousand mark for the second consecutive month, recording 3,108 units in July, 2010, in comparison to 1,026 units in July, 2009”.
