KVG Bank has planned to plant one lakh trees with the involvement of school children

A recent press reports aid that the Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVG Bank), a Dharwad-based Regional Rural Bank, has decided to plant one lakh trees, with the involvement of school children, by giving incentives and prizes. The scheme has been named ‘Vraksha Laksha Yojana’ was inaugurated jointly by the bank and Rashtrothana Vidya Kendra, Mummigatti (Dharwad), at the school premises.

Mr. Muralinath Gupta, General Manager, KVG Bank told the press that the bank has planned to plant more than one lakh saplings during this quarter with the assistance of Karnataka Forest Department, school authorities and concerned Gram Panchayats. He said that the bank has announced a scheme where in the participating school or gram panchyats would be given prizes for ensuring the survival of saplings.

He told the people to take a responsible role in the protection of nature from pollution by planting more trees when he spoke at the inaugural function. He also said that the bank has introduced the scheme because tye enthusiasm shown in planting saplings is not being shown in taking care of them in future.

He added saying that the bank had sent circulars to all its branches concerned on the importance of the Laksha Vruksha Yojana and how the occasion could be utilised effectively in making the surroundings greener.

The bank is also well known for the services it offers to the agriculturist and allied non farming activities. It offers home loan, personal loan, advances for purchase of agri land, Loan to Tenant Farmers or Oral lessees through SHGs etc.
