Car major, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), said its Bolero has once again been ranked as India’s no 1 sport utility vehicle (SUV) for the 4th successive year, with record sales of 70,554 units in 2009-10.
With this recognition, the Bolero became the first brand in the SUV/UV/MPV segment to exceed the 70,000 sales figure in a year, as per the company’s statement released.
Vivek Nayar, M&M’s senior vice-president, Marketing (Auto Division), said “The Mahindra Bolero continues to create new records and scale greater heights as India’s no 1 SUV. The Bolero is a top-selling brand in the passenger vehicle segment, excluding small cars”.
The Bolero has improved drastically, since it was first introduced in 2000, yet has managed to keep its core DNA of strong and sturdy. As the time passed, it has included number of characteristics and looks to fit the changing lifestyle of Indian clients, the statement added.
In 2007, M&M introduced the new Bolero which had a bold new style, higher comfort and conveniences. In September 2008, Mahindra launched the most powerful Bolero till date-the Bolero VLX operating on CRDe technology, it said.
In October 2008, the Bolero SLX using micro-hybrid technology was introduced, which offered higher fuel efficiency by minimizing wastage, the statement said.
