Mercedes-Benz introduces new E-Class costing Rs 64.5 lakhs

German car manufacturer Mercedes Benz has introduced a new variant of its E-Class sedan costing Rs. 64.5 lakh ( Rs. 6.45 million)(ex-showroom Delhi), in an attempt to boost its top position in the Indian luxury car market.

The new car, E-Class Cabriolet, is the 7th product in the E-Class version by the company in India.

Wilfried Aulbur, MD Mercedes Benz India said, “With its launch, the versatility of the E-Class range is further reinforced. The E-Class now offers the Cabriolet in addition to the already present E-Class Saloon and the E- Class Coupe”.

The current E-Class model from the company in India costs between Rs. 42 lakh (Rs.   4.2 million) and Rs. 50 lakh ( Rs. 5 million).

The latest product is meant at boosting the company’s position in the Indian luxury car segment.

According to the data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Mercedes Benz has overtaken rival BMW in the race for the leading postion in the Indian luxury car market with a large 79.31% increase in sales to a total 2,921 units in the January-July period as compared to 1,629 units in the same period previous year.

On the other hand, BMW which beat Mercedes Benz previous year, sold a total 2,718 units in the 7-month period as against 2008 units in the same period previous year.
