After the successful launch of the 1.2-L Polo in March in India, the biggest European car producer Volkswagen has rolled out an advanced model of the hatchback with an initial price of Rs 616,000 (ex-showroom New Delhi).
The new 1.6 L Polo is fitted with a 4-cylinder petrol engine and comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox which is believed to possess a fuel efficiency of 15.96 km/ liter.
Produced at the company’s Chakan (Pune) factory, the new Polo is sold to customers right away, the company said.
Neeraj Garg, Volkswagen India director for passenger cars said, “With the introduction of this variant, the Polo becomes even more exciting for our customers as it becomes more powerful and fun to drive while continuing to maintain all the features available in the 1.2-L Polo”.
The company introduced the 1.2-L Polo in March 2010 costing Rs 4.8 lakh. Other than the Polo, Volkswagen presently assembles (at the Aurangabad unit) Jetta and the Passat and sells the imported New Beetle, SUV Touareg, Phaeton, and Vento.
