The first trial shipment of 6 cars was dispatched to Barcelona from its Oragadam plant via the Ennore Port, a statement from the company said.

The shipment was anticipated to reach Barcelona in 22 days.

Nissan Motor India MD and CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama said the company was readying itself for exports to Europe from 2nd half of 2010. He said, ” Domestic production of Micra would begin next month and we will soon start production for exports in July”.

The company would export to over 100 countries including Europe, Middle East and Africa. Exports are predicted to go to 1.10 lakh units in 2011, he added.

The export shipment would be transported in a ‘pure car carrier vessel’ from Nissan Motor Car Carrier Company Ltd.

Nissan Motor India entered into a MoU with the Ennore Port to export its vehicles in 2008. Ennore Port would finish development of a berth space by the end of this June, it said.
