The initial small car manufacturers of the country who introduced the first low cost car Maruti 800 are in action again in order to vie with Tata Nano. They plan to achieve it by launching Maruti Cervo.The aim of Cervo is to enable the car makers to recover their lost ground in the small car segment, which belonged to them at the time of Maruti 800. The price of Maruti Cervo lies between Rs 150,000 – Rs 200,000 (ex-showroom Delhi),which is more than the price of Tata Nano.
It is expected to be introduced any time in the month of May or June 2010. It is believed that this car would give Tata Nano a tough competition.
Cervo is a 5 door hatchback model and has a roomy passenger cabin. It is fitted with a 0.7L, 660cc petrol engine that can generate the highest power of 60bhp. This outstanding fuel efficiency is the major USP of this car.
Cervo is designed to attract the youth and so the styling has been done accordingly. Curving roofline, athletic headlamps, high mounted tail lamps and fog lamps fitted adjacent to big grille gives this car a stunning appearance. However the drawback of Cervo is that it has space for only 2 people and you can keep your regular shopping bags in the luggage box.
