SBI to set up bar code enabled ATM

Banking giant SBI is setting up barcode enabled ATM service all throughout the country. This service would be set up in stages and would be available to 5 crores SBI customers throughout the country.

This facility would permit faultless bill payment. As SBI official said that the dedicated ATM would handle all bill payments consisting of a barcode.

He said, “This can be used to pay mobile, electricity, credit card as well as civic authority bills”.

The official said further, that West Bengal’s Murshidabad district would get the first ATM of this type. In West Bengal itself, there will be 3 such ATM machines.

As the process becomes widespread, another 13 ATMs which are barcode enabled would be launched in the country.

The official acknowledged that the bank has already joined hands with mobile service providers Airtel and Vodafone.
