SREI Infrastructure Finance may venture into banking sector

Srei Infrastructure Finance may be undertaking measures to venture into the banking sector by applying for a license, according to a senior official.

Sunil Kanoria, Srei Infrastructure Finance Ltd’s vice-chairman, said, “We are a finance company and we would like to venture into banking”.

 

He said, “We will go through the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India and if it permits, we will enter into the sector”.

 

When asked about the company’s prospective plans about entering into foreign markets (in the telecom tower business), Kanoria refused to comment.
