Tata Motors’ profit soars 58%

The country’s biggest carmaker, Tata Motors posted an increase of 58% in its sales for the month of February. It sold 69,427 units, as compared to 43,811 units sold in February previous year.

The company’s passenger vehicle sales in the local market went up by 43.7% at 29,241 units in the month of February as compared to 20,348 units in February previous year. The company said this is Tata Motors highest sale till date.

The company’s total exports doubled at 3,237 units as against 1,318 units in the identical month previous year, the statement added.

The Indica model posted sales of 11,502 units, the highest this financial year, trailed by the Indigo model, with a sales of 7,373 units saw a hike of 75.2% for the same month the previous year.

The Sumo and the Safari had sales of 4,005 units, an increase of 14% as against February previous year, the company said.

The Nano had sales of 4,105 units in February. In the commercial vehicles division, domestic sales went up by 67% to 39,205 units as against 23,454 units sold in the same month the previous year.

Light commercial vehicles sales went up by 49% at 21,764 units, while medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales were at 17,441 units, a hike of 98%.

The increase in sales was also helped by low-interest rates on car loans.
