By | August 22, 2010

Ratan Tata-headed Tata Motors said that it intends to increase its commercial vehicles business in India and would introduce some more models by the end of this year.

Carl-Peter Forster, Tata Motors Group’s MD and CEO said, “We plan to launch a few more models by this year-end”.

The step has been taken to counter increasing demand for trucks and automobiles in the local market.

The new products will have the company’s luxury brand name of Jaguar, he added.

The Tata group firm may also start a plant to produce small trucks, he said.

Targeting a big opportunity worldwide in the trucks business, Tata Motors is looking into synergies with its JV associate, the Italian auto giant, Fiat, Forster also said.

He said, “Tata has all the ingredients to be and it is our ambition to be a big player globally”.
