M & M set to enter motorcycle market

Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra said that it will enter into the motorcycle market with an entire range of products in this year and also it is yet to decide on continuation of its joint venture with French auto manufacturer Renault during the next 45 days.

Anand Mahindra, who is the Mahindra & Mahindra vice-chairman and MD said that the company does intend to enter the motorcycle market, which is set to take place this year. He said that it will be an entire range of products and not just one solitary product.

When queried regarding the position of its single product joint venture with Renault, Mahindra said that they will be releasing a statement in the next 30-45 days about the manner in which the Mahindra and Logan venture will carry forward from now.

M&M is in a joint venture with Renault — Mahindra Renault Pvt Ltd, which make the sole product Logan in India.

M&M has no issues about Renault introducing its products by itself, Mahindra said that what went wrong with Logan was in producing an anticipation that did not fit the car. Moreover he attributed failure to the higher tax structure applicable to the bigger car.
