Are you prepared for the monsoon? If you haven’t invested in these appliances yet, then you definitely aren’t. Read on to know more.
While it may be fair to say that COVID-19 has made the first couple of seasons of 2020 insignificant mostly because we’ve been restricted to the indoors, it is good to acknowledge that monsoon is arriving. While monsoon drives are certainly not on our minds, thanks to the current scenario, there are ways in which we can be better prepared for this season.
We, Indians, have something of a love-hate relationship with the monsoon. While we enjoy the earthy scent and the pleasant feel, rains can wreak havoc too. And this is mainly due to poorly planned towns/cities and substandard disaster management measures.
That said, we can do our bit by taking some small steps and preparing ourselves to face the wrath of the monsoon. So, we’ve got a small list of home appliances that you may want to purchase before the monsoon hits, especially if you stay in a potential flood zone.

Inverter
In India, power outages are common during heavy rains. And, since we are almost completely reliant on electronic appliances these days, a constant power supply is very important for us.
If you stay in an area where extended power outages are common, then it would be a good idea to invest in a good inverter. There are a number of good inverters from Exide, Microtek, Su-Kam, Amaron and Luminous available in the market. Do your research, compare your options, and buy the best one (preferably of a reputed brand even if you have to shell out a little extra).

Clothes Dryer
As Indians, we usually dry our clothes on a clothes line either on the terrace of our homes or on our balconies. But this drying method isn’t a feasible option when it’s raining cats and dogs. So, investing in a good clothes dryer can be extremely helpful especially during the rainy season.

Kettle
Wouldn’t you love to treat yourself to a cup of hot tea or a bowl of freshly-prepared noodles while the rain pours down? Especially for bachelors and households who do not have a gas connection, a kettle is an essential and handy kitchen appliance.
Although a kettle seems like a simple appliance to buy, it wouldn’t hurt to do a bit of research before you get one. Some things you should consider before buying a kettle are the water capacity, ease of use, comfortable handling, controls, electricity consumption, and the make/build (please avoid plastic kettles!).

Geyser
A geyser is another important household appliance. So, if you haven’t already invested in a geyser for your home, it’s time that you get one.
You can choose from a storage geyser, gas geyser or an instant geyser. Solar water heaters are also available in the market, but they are useful only during the sunny days. There’s a wide collection of geysers available from top brands such as Crompton, Bajaj, Hindware, Usha, Havells and more.
P.S. Most online shopping websites offer great discounts on home appliances, especially on Credit Card purchases. If you don’t have a Credit Card yet, apply for one as soon as possible via a completely contactless application process.
