Mitsubishi plan to increase Outlander price by 2%

Premium car manufacturer Mitsubishi said it will hike the price of its just introduced sports utility vehicle Outlander by around 2% from next month, and withdrawing the preliminary offer on the car.

The company, present in India via a technical collaboration with Hindustan Motors, launched the SUV having a 2.4-litre Bharat Stage IV petrol engine in May at Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

Vijay Kumar, Hindustan Motors Executive Vice President and Business Head said, “We are going to increase the Outlander price, which was earlier an introductory one. It will be about two per cent and it will be from September 1”.

The company had introduced the new SUV costing Rs 70,000 lesser than the earlier Outlander. Kumar said the company sold around 150 units of the Outlander previous month as against 35-40 units of the previous version.

He said, “We are expecting to sell 250 units this month.” Besides Outlander, HM-Mitsubishi presently sells sedans Lancer and Cedia, SUVs Pajero and Montero, in India.

The company, present in India since 1998, had declared introduction of its Evolution series of cars and a new model of its SUV Pajero in this fiscal as it plans to increase twofold the sales in 2010-11 from around 2,200 cars in 2009-10.
