BMW has introduced 2 new models in its 3 series sedan class. BMW India’s president Peter Kronschnabl introduced BMW 320d corporate version (diesel) and the BMW 330i (petrol) as the 2 new BMW 3 Series sedans.
The cars are being produced in the company’s Indian factory and would be sold throughout its 17 dealerships.
Kronschnabl said the BMW 330i would be priced at around Rs 33.4 lakh (Rs 3.34 million) and the BMW320d corporate model would be priced at around Rs 23.95 lakh (Rs 2.39 million).
Kronschnabl is quite optimistic about retaining the expansion story of BMW in India and was quoted as saying, “In 2008, we sold 2,908 cars which grew by 24 per cent in 2009 to 3,619.”
BMW has high anticipations from the BMW 320d corporate model. Kronschnabl says, “Though 330i is available now, we think our growth will be driven by the corporate edition variant. We hope we will be able to sell couple of hundreds of the car (corporate edition).”
As a step towards getting ready for these new car models and prospective growth Kronschnabl said that the company is interested in increasing the number of dealerships to 22 in this year. BMW is all ready to enter markets such as Goa, Indore and Ludhiana during the next few weeks.
