The Small Industries Development Bank of India has disbursed Rs 1,500 crore to 10 banks for lending to micro/unorganised enterprises. The loan is provided upto December 1 2009. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dinsha Patel said, “SIDBI has set up a special cell for providing re-finance to banks for further on-lending to micro/unorganised sector.”
In another reply, Patel also said the share of micro and small enterprises (MSE) in the total exports of the country during the year last fiscal is estimated to be 30.80 per cent.
The Minister further added that the targets set for the 11th Plan for the MSE sector provide for increasing the production from Rs 6,82,613 crore in 2007-08 to Rs 13,98,803 crore and employment from 322.28 lakh persons in 2007-08 to 391.73 lakh persons in the terminal year (2011-12) of the Plan period.
