A bank account has become more of a necessity than a comfort or luxury these days. A bank account and its related features have become an essential part of an individual, especially, a salaried individual. The purpose could be for individual transactions, personal loan or home loans, educational loan or repayment of a loan through monthly installments, etc.
So what are the things you need to open an account in a bank?
The things you need to keep ready to open an account vary with the type of account you want to open. Basic things asked for by a bank to open an account are:
- Address Proof
- Identity proof with Photo
- 2 recent photos of the individual
In case of current account the bank will ask the individual to be introduced by an existing customer or an employee of the bank. This introduction is currently not mandatory in case of savings bank account.
In case of joint accounts the identity proofs of the joint holder of the account may also be asked. In case of salary account details regarding the employer also need to be submitted.
