Here’s a bit of statistics that has air bag makers in a tizzy. There is 1 death in India every 4 minutes resulting from a road accident.
Road accidents have caused more than 1.4 lakhs fatalities in 2014 alone.
Scary numbers?
You bet.
It’s just as good there’s a heightened sense of awareness among consumers who are building life insurance and car insurance into their routine financial planning activities.
Along with increased aspirations of luxury and lifestyle spending, there is an equal emphasis these days on ensuring protection for family members, especially earning ones.
And that’s the good news.
With statistics like the above, the bad news is, protection for you while driving will take some time in coming. Air bag makers hope to have all cars fitted with air bags only by 2017 or after. Currently, less than a third of all cars manufactured come with air bags.
Until then, you need to bring your own air bags if your ride doesn’t have any.
Buckle up!
