Two-wheeler manufacturer India Yamaha Motor said it is targeting a market share of 20% in the deluxe and premium sectors by the end of 2010.
Pankaj Dubey, Business Head India Yamaha Motor National said, “We have been receiving an overwhelming response for our premium and deluxe segment models. We have clocked a robust performance so far and should achieve a market share of 20 per cent in the deluxe and premium segments by this year-end”.
The company’s present market share is 12% in the deluxe sector.
Dubey said, “Our domestic sales continue to be strong for our premium segment products like YZF-R15, Fazer and FZ-16. In the deluxe segment, we have succeeded in garnering a market share of 12 per cent”.
The company’s total domestic market share is about 3.5%, which it now plans to raise to 10% by 2012-end, according to Dubey.
About 110 cc bike sector, Dubey said, “We are eyeing a larger share in the entry-level segment. We will take a bigger initiative in this segment by creating awareness among our customers about our entry level bikes.”
Yamaha sold around 2.2 lakh units last year and is aiming for about 40% increase in 2010.
