There are a plethora of roadside stalls and shops, so take your time and soak in the experience.

  • Hill Road

Exploring Linking Road alone will take up a fair share of your day. However, we insist that you don’t miss out on Hill Road when in Bandra. A short distance away from Linking Road, this is another paradise for avid shoppers.

The place is similar in look and feel to Linking Road—street stores and a lot of high-pitched bargaining—but you are sure to find things here that you won’t find anywhere else.

The best time to visit Hill road is, basically, any time of the year. However, it is especially vibrant around New Year time.

  • Colaba Causeway

This place is certainly a sight to behold. Colaba Causeway literally bursts with colours, trinkets, jewellery, footwear, clothes, books, bags, handicrafts, and perfumes. In short, there is nothing you won’t find there. If you are somebody who likes a wide variety of choices, then get ready to be spoilt at this pocket-friendly market.

Moreover, the place is a stone’s throw away from many popular points in Mumbai. Hire a taxi or, if you have time to kill, explore the area on foot. You’ll find yourself in the vicinity of the Gateway of India, the popular Taj Mahal Hotel, Café Mondegar, Café Leopold and Theobroma among others. You can even grab tickets for a movie at the famous Regal Cinema. Regal, one of the oldest movie halls in India, was built during the cinema boom of the 1930s.

A little distance away from Colaba Causeway is Marine Drive. Take all your shopping bags, grab some street food and take a walk down the promenade. You can even find a nice spot on the drive and end the day watching the sun sink into the sea. This picturesque view will remain etched in your memory for a very long time.

  • Crawford Market

Crawford Market is approximately a 15-minute drive from Colaba Causeway. No more shopping for clothes, shoes and other fashion accessories. Crawford Market is the hub for purchasing fruits, vegetables, and spices at wholesale rates. Set inside a building from the colonial-era, the market gives off uniquely Gothic vibes.

There is also a section for pets and pet products. Perhaps you can rescue a few animals while you’re there since many shops allegedly run illegal pet trades.

  • Chor Bazaar

You would have probably first heard about this market in the movies. But don’t judge it by its name. Initially called ‘Shor Bazaar’, after the noise created in its streets, this place is a must visit for all who love antiques, vintage products, and electronic items.

But, why on earth is the place called Chor Bazaar then? Well, partly due to mispronunciation by the British and subsequently due to stolen goods actually making their way to this market.

So keep your bag and wallet close to you as you explore this market.
