Regional rural banks have also commenced the process of offering better and advanced amenities to their customers. Rushikulya Gramya Bank (RGB) of Orissa is planning to launch online banking facilities and smart and biometric ATMs to its customers.
The procedure would be developed in association with its sponsor, Andhra Bank after the core banking solution (CBS) is installed in all its branches. The bank operates 81 branches in Ganjam and Gajapati districts of Southern Orissa.
The bank anticipates that CBS would be installed in all its branches by March 2011 which is much before the deadline of September 2011 fixed by the Centre.
The Centre has ordered that all RRBs should install CBS services in conjunction with their sponsor banks by September 2011.
Chairman of RGB, P V S T R Seshagiri Rao said: “We have already prepared the roadmaps for the CBS in support of our sponsoring bank Andhra Bank”.
He said that the first branch would get CBS amenities in July while half the branches would have of this facility by September.
He added, “We will tie up with Andhra Bank to use the ATMs of the sponsoring bank by the customers of RGB after implementation of the CBS. Any customer of RGB will operate their transaction through ATMs of Andhra Bank anywhere in the country like any other commercial banks”.
