SBI's main branch office has undergone structural change

A recent press report said that the Kolkata main branch office of State Bank of India at Strand Road has undergone a structural change in order to provide upgraded service to various groups of its customers.

Reports said that the main branch has been segregated into three branches namely High Court branch, Specialised Institutional Banking branch and Kolkata branch.

Reports said that the High Court branch would meet the needs of customers of personal banking division including NRI, the specialised institutional banking branch and the Kolkata branch would deal with business for institutional customers and government business and other related services.

Mr. Suriender Kumar, Chief General Manager, Bengal Circle, inaugurated the High Court branch, the first of the proposed three branches following the restructuring exercise.

The bank had earlier announced a 25 basis point-hike each in base rate and benchmark prime lending rate to 9.75 per cent and 14.50 per cent. The hike in its interest rate has made its loans such as home loan, personal loan, auto loan etc costlier.
